![]() Welp. It’s Facebook official. I’m participating in Nanowrimo 2018. I suppose once you put up that Facebook cover photo, there’s no point in tiptoeing anymore. Last week, frustrated with the wall I’ve hit with Dragonguard, I started to consider shelving that WIP and chasing a different idea this year. I have gotten so rusty since publishing The Scarring Underneath, that I thought working on something with slightly less world building and fewer characters might be a better goal. I dusted off some old plot cards for an Urban Fantasy/Horror novel and low and behold I had pretty much the entire thing planned out. What wasn’t already plotted came to me fairly easily over the next couple days and it’s a huge bonus that this novel is set in near modern day America. It reduces the work considerably. Am I as excited about this WIP as I was about Dragonguard? Yes and no. No, because I’m in love with Dragonguard. But I want to do it justice and dang it, it’s just not ready for a full first draft yet. ![]() Yes, because I’m looking forward to putting this untitled novel on the page and getting it out of my head. Bits and pieces of it have been coming to me since 2015 so I have a million little notes scattered all over creation to collect and organize. For the rest of October, I’ll be getting to know these characters better, fleshing out my scene plans, and working on the playlist and inspirational images that will help me in November. If you’re participating in #Nano2018, feel free to add me as a buddy. My username is TSD.tales.
