On our way into Yellowstone National Park, we were pleased to get to stop at another Montana Bookstore Trail location in West Yellowstone. The Book Peddler is a very nice bookstore and café nestled among a whole street-full of shops that come alive each summer as the park does.
During our visit, I was greatly impressed with their children’s and young adult sections. There was a great selection available. There were also toys and travel versions of favorite games. For adults there were mostly new but also a small selection of used volumes. Many of the books followed a Western or YNP theme. Not just books about the parks or the wildlife but also mysteries set in the woods and romances on the prairie. I really enjoyed browsing the titles.
They had a fantastic selection of gifts; coffee mugs, lovely journals bound in leather or with carved wooden covers, Christmas ornaments, pens, and much more. Since they are a café, too, they had some delicious looking jams, jellies, and pancake mixes.
I couldn’t find a website for them so you’ll just have to stop in when you’re next in West Yellowstone and experience the store in person. They do have an active, lively Facebook page to check out. Next time, I’ll wait in the morning to have my coffee there because it smelled amazing. They’re open year-round if you’re a winter park visitor, and I’d encourage the stop.
